Have you got a good commercial idea for local authorities ?

The APS Commercial Ideas Competition is designed to be a bit of fun, but with a serious purpose.  Enter the competition for a chance to win £350 for a charity of your choice.

So what do you have to do ? Many councils have come up with innovative ideas to help them take a more commercial approach to their activities. These range from large scale cultural transformation projects, to small ingenious ideas that have made an impact on specific areas of the council. We want to praise and highlight the council who has come up with the most imaginative idea that demonstrates genuine commercial thinking. All you need do is write down, on the equivalent of a side of A4, a clever idea that has come from within your council that shows a real commercial insight.

The judges are not going to be influenced just by scale. An idea that impacts on a few staff and citizens has just as much chance of winning as one which impacts on whole communities. What we are looking for is an idea or approach that makes us think “Wow, that is a clever wheeze, we should share that with others”.

The judges will include our Chairman, Rich Benton who was a founding partner of Capita but now spends most of his time doing charitable work with social entrepreneurs.

So, using the online form below write down your idea and add a contact e-mail for someone in the Council who we can contact about the competition, that is all there is to it.

The closing date for your ideas is Friday 5th September 2014.
